If you have been looking for affordable action cameras and don’t want to purchase one of those China brands that might be lacking in either image quality, features and warranty or even all these three attributes, you might be keen to know that GoPro will be launching the cheaper, affordable, low-end version of their action cameras, called simply the GoPro HERO.
While the GoPro HERO4 Black and Silver versions come with both 4k/30 video and a touch display, the GoPro HERO doesn’t have both of these features. Nor would the GoPro HERO have Bluetooth connectivity and Wifi either.
However, if you were looking for something affordable, and have high-quality 1080p30 and 720p60 video capture, and some of the GoPro HERO4 features thrown in, you won’t be going wrong with the GoPro HERO.
The other features of the GoPro HERO includes the QuikCapture and the BurstPhoto features. QuikCapture, enables you to quick start your GoPro HERO and record the decisive moment with a single press of a button. This ensures that the special moment isn’t lost. Meanwhile, the BurstPhoto feature ensures that you are able to capture 5 megapixel photos at a rate of 5 frames per second.
The GoPro HERO comes with a rugged housing that enables it to be waterproof up to 40m. However, the housing cannot be removed and might cause the camera to be incompatible with certain range of accessories.
The GoPro HERO is expected to be launched on the 8th of October 2014, alongside the GoPro HERO4. The official price has not been announced yet, but we here at TechGarage expect it be to around USD 200.00 each.
